
This Jetty was uncovered by the shifting sands in 2004. It was built in the early 1820’s to enable boats to load and unload goods at low tide to transfer to the recently built Lancaster canal. It was probably only used for about 10 years after which the newly built Glasson Docks near Lancaster became the preferred location for boats to transfer goods onto the canal

From Google Earth it can be seen that the jetty is about 250m offshore and had a connecting causeway
